Its already been a month in Beijing. I guess I can say that I have pretty much settled in. I already found an apartment to stay in and know how to get around (mostly) and find food (still can't read the menu though). I have to thank Ken for allowing me to bunk at his place for a while. If not, I might have been sleeping on the streets!
I have also bought myself a bicycle to get to the office. A simple bike but it does the job. I really miss using a bicycle that allows me to change gears and ease my knees when going up slopes. On the other hand, cycling in this rainy weather really reminds me of the good old days when I was cycling during secondary school. I really enjoy the nice cool breeze after the rain. Its a bit muddy its definitely better than hot and dry.
(A picture when I am cycling. I am not the person in white! In fact, I am not in the picture!)
One thing I like about the roads here is that, most of them have bicycle lanes. That is something very lacking in Malaysia. I find that the roads here are pretty bicycle friendly. I guess this is expected since it is the Bike Nation.
Although a lot of people say that one should look out for the cars here, I think that its the bicycles or more specifically other cyclists that one needs to becareful about. People riding on bicycle will just turn wherever they want (Whoops! Guilty as charged!). They are more random than car drivers. I've had a number of close calls with some other cyclists. That is my experience so far.
